H.I.M

As the wind roars loud
And rain pours down
They close their eyes
As we start to drown
And our homes
Become our graves.

“It’s not our fault”
They repeatedly say,
"The science is flawed
It will be okay
Don’t change
your fossilised habits.”

Instead of trying
to mitigate
Lives are lost
To accommodate
the higher echelons
Of a flawed society.

Ask them now
As they warm the sea
“Why won’t you act
To stop this catastrophe?”
Keep shouting
Until they listen.

In Difference

I don't have much
in common with them
They tell me that
Again and again

They don't have much
In common with me
That's pretty clear
For most to see

I think it's best
To love each other
But don't believe
That love should smother

I used to think
They thought that too
But now I don't
Believe they do.

Bird in a cage

My prison of glass
and walls and steel
Chained to a computer
A hamster on a wheel

I'm entertaining
the darkest of thoughts
To find the peace
I've always sought

I do not feel
all that well
But it doesn't matter
Who I tell

The problem here
Is plain to see
The object of my suffering?

It’s me.

The muggiest of days
Where sweet air
Offers no reprieve
Only 48 hours
Until I hope
To be relieved
